LGBTQ+ NYC ARTISTS ARCHIVE PROJECT 

The LGBTQ+ NYC Artists Archive Project, is a response to the challenges of preservation that plague
avant-garde and individual artists. Led by the Pick Up Performance Co., project co-directors
Linda S. Chapman and Alyce Dissette are working with these artists individually to create their archives,
find a permanent institutional home/collection, and have their histories available to the public online.

An initiative recognizing LGBTQ+ downtown NYC artists who continue to flourish while having had an
indelible impact on New York City’s culture over the past 40+ years. Five Lesbian Brothers, Ain Gordon, Ishmael Houston-Jones, John Kelly, Richard Move, Lola Pashalinski, Carmelita Tropicana.
